PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the measurement accuracy of a photoacoustic apparatus which acquires structure information and function information of the inside of a subject.SOLUTION: The photoacoustic apparatus comprises: a light source 1 a plurality of acoustic wave receiving elements 12 a supporting body 13 for supporting the plurality of acoustic wave receiving elements moving means 14 for moving the position of the supporting body and an information acquisition unit 2 for generating information of the inside of a subject on the basis of acquired electric signals. When the supporting body is at a plurality of measurement positions contained in a first measurement position pattern, the apparatus projects pulsed light of a first wavelength and converts the acoustic waves received by the acoustic wave receiving elements into first electric signals when the supporting body is at a plurality of measurement positions contained in a second measurement position pattern, the apparatus projects pulsed light of a second wavelength and converts the acoustic waves received by the acoustic wave receiving elements into second electric signals.
