PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external composition with high formulation stability of appearance and viscosity, being excellent in antiseptic effect.SOLUTION: An external composition contains an organic modified clay mineral and trimellitate. The organic modified clay mineral to be contained is preferably 0.1-20 wt.% and the trimellitate to be contained is preferably 0.1-30 wt.%. Furthermore, an ultraviolet absorbent to be contained is preferably 0.1-50 wt.%. The trimellitate is preferable to be trimellitic acid tri 2-ethyl hexyl and tridecyl trimellitate.
