Conjugates of an IL-7 moiety and one or more non-peptide water soluble polymers are provided. Typically, the non-peptide water soluble polymer is poly (ethylene glycol) or a derivative thereof. Also specifically provided are compositions comprising the conjugate, methods for making the conjugate, and methods for administering the composition to an individual. In one or more embodiments of the invention, there is provided a conjugate comprising a residue of an IL-7 moiety covalently linked to a water soluble polymer, wherein the residue of the IL-7 moiety is releasable.
