PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aqueous preservation medium for preserving a biological material by freezing, drying or lyophilizing.SOLUTION: This aqueous preservation medium comprises (a) the biological material, (b) at least 1 kind of a polyhydroxy compound of which total amount in the medium is approximately from 5 up to approximately 60 mass% based on the medium and (c) phosphoric acid ion.
