An object of the present invention is to provide an optical isomer having stronger activity of a compound stronger than conventional steroids and NSAIDs. It has been found that optical isomers of specific dihydroxy forms of eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid (17,18 dihydroxyeicosapentaenoic acid (17,18-diHEPE), etc.), which are not conventionally known, have neutrophil inhibitory activity. The above problem has been solved. The optical isomer of the compound of the present invention is a conventionally unknown substance. Therefore, the usefulness as a new therapeutic agent is provided.本発明は、従来のステロイド剤およびＮＳＡＩＤよりも強い化合物のより強い活性を有する光学異性体を提供することを課題とする。従来公知とされていないエイコサペンタエン酸およびドコサヘキサエン酸の特定のジヒドロキシ体（１７，１８ジヒドロキシエイコサペンタエン酸（１７，１８－ｄｉＨＥＰＥ）など）の光学異性体が好中球の抑制活性を有することを見出し、上記課題を解決した。本発明の化合物の光学異性体は、従来知られていない物質である。したがって、新たな治療剤としての有用性を提供する。
