This invention relates to a non-therapeutic use of an edible composition which provides an effect on a feeling in a healthy adult consumer which is selected from the group consisting of: a) increased energy; b) an increase in certain cognitive functions, selected from the list consisting of sustained attention, faster reaction times, and information processing; c) increased quality of sleep; and d) increased feelings of well-being or happiness wherein the composition is a food or food supplement comprising an egg lysozyme hydrolysate with a Trp/LNAA ratio greater than 0.15 and which provides 20 to 50 mg Trp per dose such that when administered twice daily the consumer receives 70 mg per day for a chronic period of time which is at least 19 days. The technical problem faced by the invention is that high dosage of Trp-containing protein hydrolysates has an unpleasant taste and the solution presented is the discovery of a lower dosage which addresses the problem of taste, but still achieves the promised benefits.
