Embodiments described herein relate to a glucose monitoring system, comprising: a glucose sensor, wherein at least part of the glucose sensor is configured to be positioned in contact with interstitial fluid in a body of a user; a transmitter unit coupled to the glucose sensor and configured to process glucose data indicative of a monitored glucose level from the glucose sensor; and a receiver unit comprising a processor and a user interface having a display, wherein the receiver unit is configured to receive the processed glucose data from the transmitter unit; wherein the receiver unit is configured to operate a plurality of alarms for output in response to respective alert conditions, wherein the plurality of alarms comprises a plurality of mutable alarms; wherein the processor is configured to cause the user interface to output a display screen on the display for user selection of a mute setting for the plurality of mutable alarms; wherein the user interface is configured to receive a user input indicating a mute setting including a user-selected time period for muting the plurality of mutable alarms; and wherein, in response to receiving the user input, the processor is configured to apply the mute setting to the plurality of mutable alarms for muting each alarm of the plurality of mutable alarms for the user-selected time period.
