PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a method for producing a tea extract or coffee extract in which caffeine is reduced a caffeine reduced tea beverage or caffeine reduced coffee beverage production method and a caffeine reduced tea beverage or a caffeine reduced coffee beverage.SOLUTION: In the method for producing a tea extract or coffee extract in which the caffeine is reduced, a step of bringing a tea extract or a coffee extract and a white clay into contact is repeated at least two times, and the total amount of use of the white clay is 0.01 to 6 mass% or less with respect to the extract.
