PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a riding support device capable of safely raising and lowering a wheelchair by performing stable motor control based on load from the wheelchair.SOLUTION: A riding support device 1 includes a support mechanism 11, a motor 12, a motor rotation speed detection part 13, a voltage detection part 14, and a motor control part 15. The motor control part 15 determines that failure occurs in a wheelchair 200 getting on and off a vehicle 100 if fluctuation in a voltage of a battery 103 is within a predetermined range when rotation speed of the motor 12 fluctuates while the support mechanism 11 is being driven, and performs failure avoidance control processing for avoiding the failure (Step S506).
