PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a moisturizing polymer that has moisturizing performance higher than conventional moisturizing agents and excellent feeling on the skin and can be easily produced, and a method for producing the moisturizing polymer.SOLUTION: The moisturizing polymer includes a structure in which an amino acid monomer containing a neutral amino acid and a hydrophilic amino acid is graft-polymerized to a polyfunctional polymer. The method for producing a moisturizing polymer comprises the steps of preparing an amino acid monomer that contains a neutral amino acid and a hydrophilic amino acid, a polyfunctional polymer and an organic acid ammonium salt and then graft-polymerizing the amino acid monomer to the polyfunctional polymer in the presence of the organic acid ammonium salt at a temperature that is not less than the melting temperature of the organic acid ammonium salt.【課題】従来の保湿剤に比べて高い保湿性能を有すると共に皮膚への使用感にも優れ、かつ容易に製造もできる保湿性重合体及びその製造方法を提供する。【解決手段】本発明の保湿性重合体は、中性アミノ酸と親水性アミノ酸とを含むアミノ酸単量体が多官能性重合体にグラフト重合した構造を有する。また、本発明の保湿性重合体の製造方法は、中性アミノ酸及び親水性アミノ酸を含むアミノ酸単量体と、多官能性重合体と、有機酸アンモニウム塩とを準備する。そして、前記有機酸アンモニウム塩の存在下、この有機酸アンモニウム塩の融解温度以上の温度で前記アミノ酸単量体を前記多官能性重合体にグラフト重合する工程を含む。【選択図】なし
