PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a moisturizing cosmetic material by utilizing a natural material having high safety.SOLUTION: A moisturizing cosmetic material is produced by heat treatment of an extract from thalluses or rhizoids of tangle, preferably a hot water extract, using high-pressure closed vessel, and producing pyrrolidone carboxylic acid and/or salt thereof with glutamic acid and/or salt thereof in the extract. By using the high-pressure closed vessel, the extract from tangle is effectively heat-treated in a short time, and pyrrolidone carboxylic acid can be produced by cyclization of glutamic acid and/or salt thereof. Since the obtained pyrrolidone carboxylic acid and/or salt thereof has moisturizing ability and excellent moisturizing ability through synergistic effect with amino acids except glutamic acid, the obtained pyrrolidone carboxylic acid can be utilized for the production of a cosmetic as a moisturizing cosmetic material. By combination with other moisturizing agent, moisturizing ability can also be improved.COPYRIGHT: (C)2014,JPO&INPIT【課題】安全性の高い天然素材を利用して、保湿化粧品素材を製造する方法を提供する。【解決手段】コンブの葉状体あるいは仮根部の抽出液、好ましくは熱水抽出液を高圧密閉容器を用いて加熱処理することにより、抽出液中のグルタミン酸および/またはその塩よりピロリドンカルボン酸および/またはその塩を生成させて、保湿化粧品素材を製造する。高圧密閉容器を用いることにより短時間で効率よくコンブ抽出液を加熱処理して、グルタミン酸および/またはその塩の環化によりピロリドンカルボン酸に変換できる。得られるピロリドンカルボン酸および/またはその塩が保湿能を有し、グルタミン酸以外のアミノ酸類との相乗効果により優れた保湿性能を有するため、保湿化粧品素材として化粧品の製造に利用できる。また、他の保湿剤との併用によりさらに保湿性能を向上させることができる。【選択図】なし
