A medicament for treating cystitis and a method of treatment are provided. The medicament comprises a stromal vascular fraction provided in a liposomal carrier. Optionally, the medicament also controls one or more additional agents, such as a growth factor, glycosaminoglycan, DMSO, and/or another small molecule used to treat cystitis or having an effect on human stem cells. Cystitis is treated by intravesically administering to a patient a therapeutically effective dose of the medicament. The SVF can be derived from a patients own adipose cells via liposuction.
