The invention relates to a device (1) for removing a bone and/or cartilage section from the osseous skeleton of a human or animal, in particular for removing a bone cylinder, for example a part of the pelvic bone of a human. In order to fully preserve the in vivo constitution of the bone and/or cartilage when removing these for biopsy or transplantation and at the same time to protect the tissue, a hollow tissue channel (4) and a hollow cutter (6) with end blades are provided, wherein the cutter (6) is guided in the interior of the tissue channel (4). The invention further relates to a cutter (6) for removing a bone and/or cartilage section from the osseous skeleton of a human or animal, in particular for removing a bone cylinder, for example a part of the pelvic bone of a human, wherein the cutter (6) is designed according to the invention with a hollow shaft and has, at the end thereof, a cutting head with alternately disposed main blades and preliminary blades, wherein the preliminary blades protrude beyond the main blades in the axial direction, and/or wherein the cutter (6) has, in addition to vertically cutting blades, additional blades that cut perpendicularly with respect to a longitudinal axis of the cutter (6) and can be activated when needed. Finally, the invention relates to a mechanism for easier anatomical positoning of a device (1) according to the invention on a human or animal body, in particular in the gluteal region.
