The present invention relates to a polymer, and a use thereof. According to the present invention, provided is a functional polymer exhibiting low solubility in polar and nonpolar solvents while being suitable to form a film. The polymer of the present invention can be applied to various purposes. For example, when applied to cosmetic products such as mascara or the like, or other pharmaceutical uses, the polymer can exhibit resistance against various solvents such as facial sebum, sweat, tear, and the like, thereby enabling to maintain persistency of a makeup and the like. Thus, the polymer can be used as a film forming agent, a cosmetic composition, a cosmetic product, or the like. The polymer of the present invention comprises: a first monomer polymerization unit having less than 10.0 (cal / cm^3)^(1 / 2) of a solubility parameter of a single polymer； a second monomer polymerization unit having greater than or equal to 10.0 (cal / cm^3)^(1 / 2) of a solubility parameter of a single polymer； and a compound represented by chemical formula 5 as a polymerization unit.본 출원은 고분자 및 그의 용도에 관한 것이다. 본 출원에서는, 극성 및 비극성 용매에 대하여 낮은 용해도를 나타내며, 필름 형성에 적합한 기능성 고분자를 제공할 수 있다. 본 출원의 고분자는 다양한 용도에 적용될 수 있으며, 예를 들면, 마스카라 등과 같은 화장품 또는 기타 의약 용도 등에 적용되면 피지, 땀 및 눈물 등과 같은 다양한 용매에 대하여 내성을 나타낼 수 있어서 화장 등의 지속성을 유지할 수 있도록 하는 필름 형성제, 화장품용 조성물 또는 화장품 등으로 사용될 수 있다.
