PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a puncture needle drive device or the like which can accurately place a seed in a prostate periphery and obtain a high-quality dose distribution to thereby improve the treatment rate of prostate cancer, and reduce a burden on a patient by eliminating the need for additional anesthesia during an operation.SOLUTION: A puncture needle drive device comprises: a gear drive mechanism 130 for rotating a gear 174 an insertion tool 114a which can penetrate through a through hole 106 a groove 112a which engages with the insertion tool 114a by a predetermined engagement to apply a rotary motion to the insertion tool 114a that performs a linear motion in a direction of F or B and a puncture needle 302 connected to a needle clamp 116. The gear 174 is a helical gear, and teeth 124 engaging with the gear 174 are formed on the entire circumference at an even pitch in the insertion tool 114a. When the insertion tool 114a is made to be a male screw, the predetermined engagement is an engagement by the male screw and an engaging female screw.
