PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for use in the mouth or throat in which the bitterness and irritation of cetylpyridinium chloride is reduced, which can obtain a refreshing sensation upon application, and is also excellent in medicinal feel and palatability.SOLUTION: The composition comprises: (a) 0.05 to 0.8 mass% of cetyl pyridinium chloride (b) glycerin of 35 mass% or more (c) sorbitol 0.5 to 30 mass% (d) 1 - menthol 0.05 to 0.25 mass% (e) 0.0004 to 0.09% by mass of 1,8-cineole and (f) 0.0002 to 0.08 mass% of one or more kinds selected from eugenol, guaiacol, ethylguaiacol, methyl eugenol, and thymol wherein the total content of (b) glycerin and (c) sorbitol is 48 to 90 mass%.
