PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic image pickup device and an ultrasonic image pickup method that enable mutual position relationships between puncture needles to be grasped easily by detecting tip positions and insertion directions of a plurality of puncture needles.SOLUTION: An ultrasonic image pickup device includes: an ultrasonic probe for acquiring an ultrasonic image of a subject a volume data storage part for storing volume data of the subject a first position sensor for detecting the position of the ultrasonic probe after the position of a puncture object in the ultrasonic image and the position of the puncture object in the volume data are aligned a second position sensor for detecting the position and direction of a puncture needle inserted into the puncture object a puncture information calculation part for calculating the position and direction of the puncture needle in the volume data based on position relationships between the first sensor and the second sensor and a display part for displaying a three-dimensional image of the subject based on the volume data, and displaying the position and direction of the puncture needle in the three-dimensional image.
