PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nasal cannula.SOLUTION: A nasal cannula apparatus 30 includes a manifold part 35 adapted to receive gases from a delivery conduit 62. The manifold 35 includes one but preferably a pair of prongs 33, 34 extending upward and curving towards the rear of the manifold. The prongs 33, 34 are inserted into the nostrils of the patient and deliver gases to a patient. The prongs 33, 34 have a cut out on the rear side of the prongs.
