PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an emulsion composition of which degradation of a carotenoid and change in hue caused by degradation of the carotenoid are suppressed, and whose storage stability is excellent.SOLUTION: Provided is an emulsion composition which comprises a carotenoid, a cationic surfactant represented by general formula (I) and 2 mass% or more of a higher alcohol with an alkyl group having 14 to 24 carbon atoms. In the general formula (I), at least one of R1, R2, R3, and R4 is preferably an aliphatic group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms, an aromatic having 6 to 22 carbon atoms, or an alkoxy group having 6 to 30 carbon atoms.
