PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing carbonated apatite. SOLUTION: The method for producing carbonated apatite includes a first step of firing animal bones, and a second step of reacting the bone burned material obtained in the first step with a basic carbonic acid compound. The method for producing carbonate apatite, wherein the firing in the first step is performed at a temperature of 100 to 200° C. under a pressure of atmospheric pressure to 3 atmospheres. In the second step, the method for producing carbonate apatite, wherein the basic carbonic acid compound is added so as to have a weight of 1 to 50 wt% with respect to the weight of the bone burned material. The method for producing carbonate apatite, wherein the reaction with the basic carbonic acid compound in the second step is carried out at a temperature of 30 to 90°C. A method for producing carbonated apatite, further comprising a third step of drying the processed bone material obtained in the second step.
