PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple means for achieving desired chloride ion concentration in water in an electrolysis unit of a system wherein hypochlorous acid is produced by electrolyzing water, provided that the desired chloride concentration is achieved when raw water supplied to the electrolysis unit has a low chloride ion concentration, by diffusing salt into the raw water so as to increase the chloride ion concentration in the raw water.SOLUTION: An electrolytic water generator includes: a cartridge 100 for sustained release of salt and the electrolysis unit 110 wherein electrolytic water 114 containing hypochlorous acid is produced by electrolyzing water. The cartridge 100 for sustained release of salt comprises: a cartridge body 102 filled with an aqueous solution of an inorganic salt chemically combined with Cl-, such as NaCl and a diffusion functional member 104 which is installed inside the cartridge body so that a tip thereof is exposed at a feed tip of the cartridge body, is infiltrated with the aqueous solution and diffuses chloride ions from the aqueous solution to the water in which the chloride ion concentration needs to be increased.
