PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acetate-containing mating disruptant containing substantially no alcohol, improving the mating disruptive effect against pests.SOLUTION: The mating disruptant for controlling pests is provided, whose natural sex pheromone is substantially free of an alcohol, and comprises one or more acetates. Specifically, the disruptant comprises the one or more acetates and an alcohol or alcohols derived from the one or more acetate, wherein an amount of each of the alcohols is 0.5-10 mass% based on an amount of each deriving acetate. A mating disruption method using the mating disruptant is also provided.
