There is provided a cartridge assembly (2) for use in an aerosol-generating system, the cartridge assembly (2) comprising a cartridge (6), a housing (4), a mouthpiece (8) and at least one linkage (40). The cartridge (6) comprises first and second compartments (30, 32) each having an air inlet (44, 46) and an air outlet (48, 50). The housing (4) encloses the cartridge (6), the housing (4) comprising air inlets (16, 18), air outlets (22, 24) and at least one guide slot (26, 28). The mouthpiece (8) comprises an air inlet (38) in fluid communication with the housing air outlets (22, 24). The at least one linkage (40) extends through the at least one guide slot (26, 28) and is connected to the cartridge (6) and the mouthpiece (8). The mouthpiece (8) and the cartridge (6) are rotatable with respect to the housing (4) from a first position to a second position. When the cartridge (6) is in the first position, the housing (4) obstructs the air inlets (44, 46) and the air outlets (48, 50) of the first and second compartments (30, 32).
