PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seedling transplanter having solved such a problem that, in conventional seedling transplanters each working in such a manner that a sharp-pointed beak-shaped drill ascends/descends periodically and when the drill plunged into soil at a lower dead point of the ascending/descending stroke or a point close thereto, the lower part of the drill is opened to make a seedling planting hole and a seedling is planted in the hole, since the drill has such a mechanism that the lower part thereof comes to the lower dead point and opens by a specified magnitude and then also gradually opens after planting as it rises near an upper dead point, a mulching film may be raised due to the drill ascending after planting and/or the posture of a seedling after planted may be spoiled because of unnecessary enlargement of the resultant hole. SOLUTION: This seedling transplanter has a drill which works in such a manner as to ascend/descend periodically, plunge into soil at a lower dead point of the ascending/descending stroke or close thereto and make a seedling planting hole when the lower part thereof opened, and then maintain the divergence at the lower dead point or a point close thereto until the lower part thereof rises near an upper dead point of the stroke.
