A modular transdermal drug delivery system is provided that includes: a top module with an outer backing layer laminated to a pressure sensitive adhesive layer covered by a removable release liner prior to assembly； A lower module comprising a porous drug reservoir layer laminated to a skin contact adhesive affixing the system to the skin, the skin contact adhesive being, in one embodiment, substantially identical to the porous drug reservoir layer. A bottom module protected by a second removable release liner prior to use.
