A method for selecting heat-resistant lines of vegetable crops includes selection of heat-resistant forms of the vegetable crops by preserving the viability of pollen after the effect of elevated temperature thereon. The selection is carried out on the third day (tomato) and on the fifth day (sweet pepper, aubergine), measuring the lengths of all seedlings after germination of seeds by 200 pcs in each of Petri dishes at a temperature of 25-27 °C. After measuring the seedlings are placed one by one into each numbered cell, of 1 × 1 cm in size, of a Petri dish and heated 6 hours in a thermostat at 40 °C (tomato and sweet pepper) and 43 °C (aubergine), then the heat-treated seedlings are left for a day at a temperature of 25-27 °C, repeated measurement is carried out, after which the seedlings are planted in the soil for growing seedlings. The amount of growth of the seedlings is determined by the difference between the second and first measurements. The obtained data on growth after heat-treatment and their frequency of group variation in the series and their statistical characteristics are determined. Groups of theoretical distribution with limits of variation of the seedlings are obtained by subtracting and adding the value of standard deviation to the general average. After that evaluation is conducted of heat resistance of each group of theoretical distribution of variation of the amount of growth of the seedlings. The seedlings are selected according to the amount of growth within the ranges from +2 to +3 of the standard deviation from the general average value of the amount of seedling growth in a certain population.Способ отбора жаростойких линий овощных культур включает отбор жаростойких форм овощных культур по сохранности жизнеспособности пыльцы после воздействия на нее повышенных температур.
