PURPOSE: A composition containing Rhus verniciflua bark extract or galate derivative isolated from the same are provided to ensure significant anti-scuticociliatida activity. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing or treating scuticociliatida infection of fishes contains Rhus verniciflua bark extract as an active ingredient. The Rhus verniciflua bark extract is isolated using non-polar solvent extract. The non-polar solvent is n-hexane, CHCl3, EtOAc, n-BuOH, or H_2O. A composition for preventing or treating scuticociliatida infection contains Rhus verniciflua bark extract-derived methyl galate of chemical formula 1 or a galate derivative of chemical formula 2 as an active ingredient.
