Ophthalmic surgical handpiece has a driver that is coupled to the horn. Horn is coupled to the needle. Suction pump is integral with the handpiece, and is disposed in proximity to the needle. Suction pump has a motor which is coupled to the shaft. A removable cartridge, with a flexible tube of predetermined length is held by the tube holder. Flexible tube having a predetermined length is disposed between the shaft and the tube holder. A removable cartridge has a section of the suction line.
