An endoscope adapted to insert a treatment tool includes a distal-end rigid portion provided on a distal end of the endoscope and including an opening portion from which the treatment tool protrudes； a rotary shaft provided in the opening portion, the direction of the shaft center being perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the endoscope； an operating unit configured to receive an operation for rotating the rotary shaft； and a raise base that is attachable to and detachable from the rotary shaft in a predetermined attaching/detaching direction through the opening portion and raises the treatment tool in accordance with rotation of the rotary shaft. Thus, the endoscope with a desired cleaning efficiency is provided.
