An automatic and spontaneous air-conditioning freshness retaining system and method for retaining freshness of fruits and vegetables thereof. Said system comprises an air-conditioning storage, an air-conditioning working storage and an air-conditioning freshness retaining storage. The air-conditioning freshness retaining storage is divided into three parts at different temperatures, including the refrigeration storage at 0-20℃, refrigeration storage at 2-7℃ and low-temperature storage at 10℃. A tray is placed on the ground inside the air-conditioning freshness retaining storage, an air-conditioning storage is overlapped on the tray. An air-conditioning workbench is placed inside the air-conditioning working storage, an air conditioner with one end connected with an air bottle and the other end connected with a main gas filled tube is placed on the air-conditioning workbench. A main gas filled tube is connected with a main air-conditioning reducing part, and connected with each branch gas filled tube by tube connectors. Branch gas filled tubes are connected with air holes on the cover of the air-conditioning storage.
