PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and instrument for measuring the subcutaneous fat of a trunk part capable of precisely measuring the data of the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer of a trunk part by restricting the thickness measuring region of subcutaneous fatty tissue and a measuring method and capable of precisely measuring the visceral fatty tissue of the trunk part by utilizing the measured data of the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer of high precision in the estimation of the data of the visceral fatty tissue of the trunk part.
SOLUTION: One current applying electrode is arranged to at least one region highly useful for estimating the amount of subcutaneous fatty tissue on the periphery of a trunk abdominal part and another current applying electrode forming a pair along with one current applying electrode is arranged to the region protruded from the trunk part while one voltage measuring electrode is arranged at the position approaching one current applying electrode on the periphery of a trunk abdominal part and another voltage measuring electrode forming a pair along with one voltage measuring electrode is arranged to the region protruded from the trunk part different from the region where the other current applying electrode is arranged to measure the impedance of the trunk part to thereby calculate the data of the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer of the trunk part.
