PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and instrument for measuring the subcutaneous fat of a trunk part capable of precisely measuring the data of the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer of the trunk part because the regions of at least at two places can be selected as the thickness measuring regions of the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer at the same time and the thickness sum value of the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer of those regions can be finely measured and capable of precisely measuring the visceral fatty tissue of the trunk part by utilizing the measured data of the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer of high precision in the estimation of the data of the visceral fatty tissue of the trunk part.
SOLUTION: Current applying electrodes are simultaneously arranged to two regions highly useful for estimating a subcutaneous fatty tissue amount on the periphery of a trunk abdominal part while voltage measuring electrodes are respectively arranged at the positions approaching the respective current applying electrodes on the periphery of the trunk abdominal part and the impedance of the trunk part is measured to calculate the data of the subcutaneous fatty tissue layer of the trunk part.
