The fat inspection method discriminated between an image acquisition step of acquiring a tomographic image of an abdominal tissue in a medical tomographic image apparatus, and a discrimination step of discriminating a subcutaneous fat layer, a muscle layer, and a visceral fat layer using a CT value of the tomographic image. A distribution acquisition step of acquiring a correlation distribution between the number of voxels of the subcutaneous fat layer and the visceral fat layer and the CT value, and a determination step of determining an obesity tendency using the correlation distribution of the CT value. According to the present invention, in addition to the volume and ratio of the subcutaneous fat layer and the visceral fat layer of the abdominal tissue, it is possible to determine fat quality and liver fat.断層画像内において高精度に脂肪を判別でき、肥満傾向や脂肪肝傾向を検査できる脂肪検査方法、脂肪検査装置および脂肪検査プログラムを提供する。脂肪検査方法は、医用断層画像装置における腹部組織の断層画像を取得する画像取得ステップと、断層画像のＣＴ値を用いて皮下脂肪層、筋肉層、内臓脂肪層を弁別する弁別ステップと、弁別した皮下脂肪層および内臓脂肪層のボクセル数とＣＴ値の相関分布を取得する分布取得ステップと、ＣＴ値の相関分布を用いて肥満傾向について判別する判別ステップを備える。本発明によれば腹部組織の皮下脂肪層と内臓脂肪層の体積や割合に加えて、脂肪の質の判定や肝脂肪の判定が行える。
