An osmotin protein of the present invention is non-cytotoxic, inhibits cell surface expression of CD14 and a TLR4 protein, which are LPS receptors, inhibits the activation of NF-κB through the inhibition of the phosphorylation of IκBα, and suppresses the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and Interleukin-1β (IL-1β), thereby being usable in anti-inflammatory or immunopotentiating health functional foods or drugs.
