A manhole cover frame for manholes, capable of being placed so as to bear on an edge of the mouth of said manhole, comprising a plurality of pairs of intercommunicating cavities, wherein a first cavity extends in a direction which is substantially parallel to a plane defined by the mouth of the manhole, the first cavity being insertable into a seat formed on the edge of the manhole, and a second through-cavity that extends in a direction which is perpendicular to the longitudinal extension of the first cavity. This first cavity is suitable for the removable insertion of a lifting element and the second cavity is suitable for the insertion of a lifting bar, the lifting bar having a head in which at least part of the lifting element can be engaged so as to lift the frame from the manhole.
