There is provided a surgical buttress for use with a circular or semi-circular surgical stapling apparatus, the surgical buttress comprising a body portion configured and dimensioned to substantially overlie a portion of at least some of the fastener slots of a tubular body portion of the surgical stapling apparatus or the fastener pockets of an anvil of the surgical stapling apparatus, and a resilient skirt for engaging the circumferential periphery of the stapling apparatus and for pulling over the tubular body portion or the anvil.
