Measuring method for determining the working width and the broadcast density of disc broadcasters by means of measuring devices which are located in the region over which the fertiliser particles are centrifugally broadcast. In order to provide a measuring method and a simple measuring device which is easy to manipulate and provided for the purpose of carrying out the measuring method, so that the farmer can in each case check in the simplest way the working width which he has set with the aid of broadcasting tables, in order thus to be able to treat the ground or the plants with fertiliser while observing the prescribed working width and a uniform broadcast density independently or excluding, above all, the different nature of the same types of fertiliser. Of course, what is said above also applies to other materials to be broadcast, such as herbicides, etc. Checking the working width is impossible using the known methods in the case of late fertilising. It is provided that the measuring devices (22, 24, 25, 26) are arranged in a stationary fashion on the ground, that the measuring devices (22, 24, 27) are arranged at least at one, preferably only at one, point of the broadcast region (B), and that the measured value of this measuring device (22, 24, 25, 26) is compared with a representative value for the desired working width (A). <IMAGE>
