The device (R2) has a regulator mechanism comprising a position/speed regulator (26) and a pressure regulator (32) for processing of a hydraulic axle at lower and higher sampling rates (fa1, fa2), where one sampling rate is higher than the other sampling rate. The respective regulators are realized in a software form and by a hardware circuit, which is realized by a field programmable gate array. The regulators are connected in series such that output of the position/speed regulator determines a guide parameter (24) for the pressure regulator. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a digital regulation device.
