PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing apparatus capable of improving visibility of a blood vessel flowing in or out of an affected area in a medical image.SOLUTION: The medical image processing apparatus includes an acquisition unit, an identification unit and an extraction unit. The acquisition unit acquires volume data showing a status of a three-dimensional area including a mass portion and a blood vessel derived from the mass portion in a subject. The identification unit identifies part of a portion corresponding to the mass portion in the volume data. The identification unit identifies a portion ranging from a position of the identified part to a blood vessel area corresponding to the derived blood vessel. The extraction unit extracts the identified blood vessel area from the volume data.【課題】医用画像において患部に流入または流出する血管の視認性を向上させることが可能な医用画像処理装置を提供する。【解決手段】医用画像処理装置は、取得部と、同定部と、抽出部と、を備える。取得部は、被検体内における、塊部および当該塊部から派生する血管を含む３次元領域の状態を示すボリュームデータを取得する。同定部は、ボリュームデータにおける塊部に相当する部分の一部を同定する。また同定部は、当該同定した一部の位置から、派生する血管に相当する血管領域までを同定する。抽出部は、ボリュームデータから、同定した血管領域を抽出する。【選択図】図５
