To reduce carbon dioxide emissions with biogas, it is subjected to a gas stream with water under pressure to separate it out and pass the water to water bodies which are or may become acid
To utilize carbon dioxide from a biogas, the gas from a biogas plant or rubbish dump is subjected to gas stream enriched with CO2 with water at a pressure of 2-20 bar. The water has a pH value of >= 6. The water is treated with alkali additives containing chalk and magnesium to be transferred to mining ponds which are acid or could become acid and/or into ground water pipelines and/or other available body of water.
