The invention relates to compositions containing glycolipids, preferably selected from sophrolipids and rhamnolipids, as well as benzoic acid and/or sorbic acid and the salts thereof. The invention also relates to the use of these compositions to improve the antimicrobially preservative action of benzoic acid and/or sorbic acid and the salts thereof, the use of glycolipids to reduce the bitter taste of benzoic acid and/or sorbic acid and the salts thereof, and the use of the composition as a preservative for foods, cosmetic products, domestic cleaning agents, detergents and washing agents, dental hygiene products and medicinal products.
