The present invention provides the use of low dose benzoic acid and/or a sodium salt thereof in combination with one or more organic acid preservatives used as active components in the manufacture of the compositions for vagina. The inhibition of the compositions on vaginal normal lactobacilli is weaker, while the inhibition of the compositions on vaginal fungi and/or vaginal pathogenic lactobacilli is stronger. The organic acid preservatives are selected from dehydroacetic acid and/or a sodium salt thereof, propanoic acid and/or salts thereof, sorbic acid and/or salts thereof. The compositions of the present invention are particularly useful in inhibiting vaginal fungi, and/or inhibiting vaginal pathogenic lactobacilli, and/or facilitating vaginal normal lactobacilli, and/or maintaining normal vaginal acidity, and/or regulating vaginal microecosystem, and/or regulating vaginal microorganisms, and/or selectively decontaminating vagina.
