The device (10) has a cutting device for separating a part of plants from another part i.e. root, of the plants anchored in ground. A driving- and/or moving unit moves the cutting device relative to the ground. A guiding unit guides cutting blades of the cutting device relative to a surface area of the ground. The cutting blades are rotatable around a rotational axis by a rotational unit. The rotational axis is bent relative to a normal direction of the surface area of the ground. The guiding unit has rollers connected with the cutting device by a guide arm. An independent claim is also included for a method for harvesting plants.
