PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system which enables even a processor unable to process data of a moving image to cope with data processing on the endoscope device side when taken by an imaging element of an endoscope device is transmitted at a normal data transfer speed by having the endoscope device cope with the failure instead.SOLUTION: A CPU of an endoscope 12 switches the control of a CMOS imaging element from a normal mode to a degenerate mode (Step S24) when a processor device 14 can not cope with the data transfer speed of a moving image taken in the normal mode by the CMOS imaging element (Step S20), so that the processor device 14 can cope with the moving image data at a reduced data transfer speed.
