PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a clone seedling by which formation of adventitious roots from the shoot of a plant is promoted to improve its germination ratio so as to improve the productivity of the clone seedling obtained by cutting technique, in particular a clone seedling belonging to plant species with a low germination ratio.SOLUTION: The method for producing a clone seedling includes: making a support medium having a liquid-retaining ratio of not more than 80% expressed by the following equation 1: the liquid retaining ratio (%)=[the saturated mass of a liquid retainable in the support medium/(the saturated mass of the liquid retainable in the support medium+the dry mass of the support medium)]×100, retain water and/or a liquid culture medium to prepare a germination bed inserting the shoot of a plant into the germination bed to culture the shoot and forming adventitious roots from the shoot.
