PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method and an inspection device for a ceramic honeycomb filter to accurately distinguish between a normal item and a defective item by using resonance frequencies (characteristic frequencies) possessed by the filter in cases where it is hard to determine that the honeycomb filter is defective by its visual inspection. SOLUTION: This inspection method for a ceramic honeycomb filter uses the plurality of resonance frequencies possessed by the honeycomb filter for inspecting defects of the honeycomb filter. A ratio between resonance intensities at two arbitrary resonance frequencies possessed by a normal ceramic honeycomb filter is compared with a ratio between resonance intensities at the two resonance frequencies of a ceramic honeycomb filter to be inspected.
