A method for mass-producing artificial potato microtubers comprises: (a) cultivating the virus-free potatoes in the culture medium contg. 2000 mg/l NH4NO3, 2500 mg/l KNO3, 440 mg/l CaCl22H2O, 370 mg/l MgSO47H2O, 170 mg/l K3PO4, 37.25 mg/l disodium EDTA, 0.5 mg/l folic acid, 0.5 mg/l riboflabin, 0.1 mg/l gibberellic acid, 10 g/l agar, etc. to obtain the microtuberogenic shoots; (b) culturing the obtd. shoots in the medium contg. a growth inhibitor such as phospho D, Amo-1618, B-905 or chloro choline chloride to obtain the potato microtubers. The method is useful for mass-producing artificral seed potatoes more than 30 times as efficiently as by known methods of microtuber prodn.
