PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new composition with an anticandidal activity which achieves a more powerful effect on candidiasis of a skin and a mucous membrane, including elderly persons mycotic stomatitis and females vaginal candidiasis, both of which particularly are infectious diseases with a lot of numbers of patients and tend to have a relapse, than conventional products, which can be used for a long period of time without worrying about a risk of any side effect and/or of any resistant bacteria, and which is easily obtainable and usable for a patient.SOLUTION: Although both of shogaol which is an ingredient of a flavor plant, and capric acid which is an ingredient of a dry crude drug and is also a food additive, independently exhibit an anticandidal activity, a synergism is exerted when both are used together, and as a result their effect can be improved remarkably. Moreover, it is easy for both shogaol and capric acid to obtain high purity products, and both are approved of using for food. Therefore, both shogaol and capric acid can be applied to a wide range of products, ranging from medicine to food, and when they are put to a practical use, a patient can easily obtain and use a certain product. Although mycotic stomatitis and vaginal candidiasis tend to have a relapse, when the composition includes a plant constituent or a food additive, a risk caused by an application of an antifungal agent is not to be worried about, and the patient can use the composition at ease. Moreover, when compared at an equivalent level of effectiveness, the product, making full use of the synergism, can significantly lower an added amount of each ingredient.
