A magnetic resonance imaging apparatus which includes a magnet assembly where the bore is formed according to one aspect of the present invention includes a lamp which is installed in the bore； and a lamp control part which controls the optical property of the lamp according to the sequence applied to the magnetic resonance imaging.본 발명의 일 측면에 따른 자기 공명 영상 장치 및 그 제어 방법은 자기 공명 영상 촬영을 위한 시퀀스 또는 대상체의 상태에 따라 보어 내부의 조명의 색 또는 밝기를 조절함으로써 대상체가 자기 공명 영상 촬영 중에 느끼는 불안감을 감소시킬 수 있는 자기 공명 영상 장치 및 그 제어 방법을 제공한다.본 발명의 일 측면에 따른 내부에 보어(bore)가 형성되는 자석 어셈블리를 포함하는 자기 공명 영상 장치는, 상기 보어 내부에 설치되는 조명； 및 자기 공명 영상 촬영에 적용될 시퀀스에 따라 상기 조명의 광학적 특성을 제어하는 조명 제어부를 포함한다.
