PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition promoting sugar uptake by muscle (skeletal and cardiac muscles), an agent for improving hyperglycemia containing the same, and food for improving hyperglycemia.
SOLUTION: The sugar-uptake promoter comprises, as an active ingredient, at least one compound chosen from the group consisting of fisetin, luteolin, quercetin and glycosides thereof. The sugar-uptake promoter is can activate GLUT4 so as to promote sugar uptake by muscle, thereby preventing or improving diabetes or diabetic complications.
